Wanted Elgato 4K capture card somehow cheaper than lower quality cards

I think PC gaming is the best platform for most games. Aiming with a mouse is ...... even better." But sometimes you can't afford to get every game for console exclusives. PlayStation had some of the biggest games of the year, including "God of War Ragnarok" and "Horizon Forbidden West". PlayStation is slowly but surely porting its catalog to PC, but it will be some time before any of them appear on Steam.

Uncharted 4 is still fresh out here.

If you have a console you want to play on your gaming PC, a capture card is the way to go; I've used Remote Play, PlayStation's streaming service to PC, but it was a bit choppy, especially with games from PC to Twitch. Whenever I wanted to stream, I relied on the Elgato HD60 S+.

Currently, the S+ offers a moderate discount, but the HD60 X offers higher quality recording and, incredibly, is currently at a lower price.

The Elgato HD60 X is an external capture card that can record at 1080p60 HDR10 or 4K30 HDR10; it also has VRR pass-through and is driverless, so just plug it in and playback is immediate. Basically, it is suitable for any application, whether streaming, recording, or just playing, and allows you to seamlessly combine your console with your PC. I have just repurchased the Elgato HD60 S+ as my first one broke, and it's a shame this isn't available in the UK at this price.

Jacob Ridley had some initial problems getting pass-through to work in 4K, but the HD60 X firmware has been updated to fix that particular shortcoming, especially since the Elgato HD60 X review (opens in new tab) was published. As such, it is quite a bargain for the essential kit needed to connect the console to a streaming setup.
