Sound Your Best with Black Friday Sale on Microphones for Podcasting and Streaming

Amazon has a number of Black Friday specials on streaming and podcast microphones. From premium to cheap, there is something for everyone: the Razer Seiren Mini for $38 (opens in new tab) and the HyperX Solocast for $34 (opens in new tab). If you want something a little more upscale, the Blue Yeti Nano is $70 (opens in new tab) and the colorful HyperX Quadcast is $130 (opens in new tab).

The Razer Seiren Mini and HyperX Solocast are two great-sounding little pill-shaped mics that are perfect if you need something that takes up less space on your desk and moves around a lot. Personally, I think the Seiren Mini looks better and is on sale in all three colors, but the Solocast is only available in the black model.

So what's the catch with these cheap microphones? Both the Solocast and the Seiren Mini sound just as good as the more expensive mics, but the tradeoff is that both have a shocking lack of features for serious streamers.

The Seiren Mini has little to nothing in the way of mute, volume control, or headphone jack; the Solocast has the same problem, but has a tap-to-mute button at the top. In other words, there is something there. Both microphones are good choices for under $40 if you want an easy-to-use, no-frills audio experience.

If you're looking for something more unique to show off in a stream, this HyperX Quadcast S (open in new tab) mic sounds great and looks great on camera. In our review, we mentioned that this is the same mic as the Quadcast, but with fun RGB lighting that makes it look like you're talking into a mule lamp. The anti-vibration shock mount and stand mean it won't take accidental shocks during gigs.

The Blue Yeti Nano is another great choice for streamers and podcasters: for $70, you get a decent-looking microphone that sounds good right out of the box, and with the Blue Vo!ce (not a typo) software, you can filter and customize your voice to sound like a robot, or in our case, an oak in love (opens in new tab).

You may want to choose a quality boom arm to mount your new microphone. This will allow you to position the microphone exactly where you want it. It will also help save desk space. I use the Rode PSA1, which currently sells for $93 (opens in a new tab). It has a longer reach than a cheap microphone arm, a cable clip, and best of all, it doesn't make noise when moved. If you haven't already, pair the new mic with your headset to complete your audio package. Thankfully, some of the Black Friday deals I saw this week (opens in new tab) included gaming headsets for just $100, like this Razer BlackShark V2 Pro wireless. (Open in new tab)
