1TB SSD on Black Friday is too cheap.

General
1TB SSD on Black Friday is too cheap.

SanDisk has been one of the leading flash memory brands since memory cards were first used in digital cameras. Western Digital, which now owns SanDisk, has been one of the largest players in the storage industry for decades. So a SanDisk SSD is a safe buy. That's why I confidently recommend the SanDisk SSD Plus as a frighteningly inexpensive way to add a terabyte of solid state storage to your PC.

The SanDisk SSD Plus is not a speed record-breaker. It is a SATA SSD, rated at 535 MB/s read and 350 MB/s write, which is essentially the limit of what SATA can offer in terms of read speed. As a boot drive, you should look for a faster NVMe SSD. Our Black Friday SSD Info (opens in new tab) blog has recommendations for these SSDs.

The advantage of the SanDisk SSD Plus is that it's just cheaper. As far as I can tell, it is the cheapest solid-brand 1TB SSD.

If you need to expand your desktop PC with more storage, you can probably afford the SATA ports and SSD mounting spots. It should also be noted that reviews of this drive have been very positive. Again, this drive won't win any races, but it can be expected to do its job. A less well-known brand, Team Group, sells SSDs for about $2 less than usual.

The SanDisk SSD Plus, at $50, is also a great drive to buy if you have an aging laptop running on a 2.5" HDD or an older, smaller SATA SSD. Upgrading this type of laptop tends to be very easy and can give you several more years of life with such a large storage boost.

This drive is good for a large amount of storage, and is good for indie games, videos, and less demanding programs, but again, do not use it as a boot drive. This drive is not fast enough to experience Windows booting. If that's the case, check out the NVMe deals we found at Black Friday Hunting. They will all turbo-charge your rig.
