This $349 RX 6700 XT may make you break your promise not to buy a new graphics card this year.

Just the other day I bought a new motherboard and CPU for my PC. But once again, despite my decision not to buy or even look on Black Friday (opens in new tab), the discounts on graphics cards are biting deep. My RTX 2060 is starting to turn gray at the temples. What harm can a little upgrade do?

This AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT is pretty awesome right now for $349.99 (open in new tab); it's a powerful card with performance somewhere between Nvidia's RTX 3060 Ti and RTX 3070, offering excellent clock speeds and high frame rates. Our AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT review (opens in new tab) claims that "the RX 6700 XT delivers an excellent 1080p and 1440p gaming experience with a memory capacity that will probably keep it ahead of its time for years to come."

Indeed, one of the card's main drawbacks at launch was that it was more expensive than the RTX 3060 Ti, but since then the price has dropped enough to make it one of the more affordable graphics cards (open in new tab). Today, this trend is especially noticeable.

The RX 6700 XT is a reliable choice for 1440p and 1080p gaming, though a bit slow at 4K, and thanks to the triple-fan XFX model, it stays cool and quiet while playing. The RX 6700 XT has enough performance and memory for its price range It is available now for much less than the price of the RTX 3060 Ti.

This is an attractive prospect, and hopefully one that you may be able to resist. But why should we hold out? Because this is preparation for the future.
