GOG Distributes Another Free Game on Black Friday

With Thanksgiving over and the Black Friday shopping season underway, GOG kicked off its Black Friday sales a little early on Wednesday, offering Narita Boy as part of its offerings, a game set in a vineyard that GOG describes as "an atmospheric 3D tile-based tycoon game" called Terroir" (opens in new tab).

It's a low-poly isometric style, clean and minimalistic, and quite nice. It starts with a single hexagonal tile where the wine is grown, crushed, and aged. Eventually, 33 tiles can be arranged, with six different types of tiles interacting with each other depending on where they are placed. There are different varieties of grapes to grow, as well as "a dynamic weather system that reflects the unpredictability of real-world climate."

When the game was initially released in 2017, PC Gamer's unofficial mascot, Geralt of Rivia, also got in on the terroir action. This means that an unnamed member of the team role-played as him for a few hours on the website (opens in new tab). I don't know who that is, nor do I want to know, but it is worth reading. Whoever wrote this really knows Geralt well.

You can get Terroir for free on GOG until November 28 at 6am PT/9am ET/2pm GMT. If you missed Narita Doji, you can get it for 65% off during the Black Friday sale; according to GOG, over 4,000 games are currently on sale, with discounts of up to 90% off. Here are a few of the best deals on sale. These are the same prices as Steam's Autumn Sale (opens in a new tab), so you may want to choose the launcher of your choice.
