Powerful Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 Gaming Laptop Reduced to $1,799 on Cyber Monday

In July, hardware writer Katie Wickens called the Asus ROG Strix Scar 15 her favorite gaming laptop (opens in new tab); now in November, it's $400 less than the regular price at Newegg for $1799.99 (opens in new tab) Open in new tab).

It's hard to imagine (or rather, accept) that a machine I can easily carry under my arm is more powerful than my once (and still large and heavy) desktop PC, but there's no getting around it. To be honest, it's more suited to an assault rifle than a gaming laptop. [Rounding out the package is a 15.6-inch 1080p IPS display running at 300Hz and a 1TB NVMe M2 SSD for storage. Wireless connectivity includes WiFi 6 and Bluetooth 5.1 with Asus' proprietary RangeBoost technology. The OptiMechanical keyboard has LED lights on each key, and remember, this is a gaming laptop.

Lots of numbers and technical terms, what do they mean? We gave the Strix Scar 15 a score of 88% and declared it "one of the best 15-inch gaming laptops we tested this year."

We similarly raved earlier this year, calling the 300Hz display "truly unbeatable" and the CPU/GPU combination "nearly the best when it comes to gaming laptops today." This is a formidable endorsement.
