'The Witcher' Voice Actor Calls Henry Cavill's Netflix Exit 'Really Sad'

Turns out we're not the only ones saddened that Henry Cavill is leaving Netflix's The Witcher (open in new tab) after season 3 (open in new tab). We're also quite disappointed with the video game version of Geralt.

Doug Cockle appeared on Eurogamer's One-to-One podcast (opens in new tab) to discuss his illustrious career as a voice actor and The Witcher. The conversation eventually turned to what he thought about Cavill's decision to step down, which Liam Hemsworth (open in new tab) is set to replace.

"I think it's really sad, and there are a lot of people speculating as to why he had to step down," Cockle said. 'But whatever the reason, I think Henry is ...... I think it's sad because I think he did a great job as Geralt of Livia. He also said he "didn't know what to expect" until Cavill invited him to the premiere of the first series and saw his performance.

Cockle also revealed that he had a brief conversation with Cavill about Geralt at the premiere, saying, "We chatted for an hour or two about the world of The Witcher and being Geralt of Livia." Cockle, unfortunately, says he "remembers very little" about their conversation. "It was at the after-party for the premiere, and most of the people there were involved in the production, so we knew each other. It was really nice to be there, to celebrate, and especially to see what they had produced"

.

Anyway, as far as Cockle remembers, he and Cavill shared similar sentiments about the white-haired monster hunter. He said, "We talked about Superman, we talked about Geralt and the Witcher. We had similar thoughts about Geralt. If I remember correctly, he felt the same way I do about not being an emotionless being.

Cockle said he was sad to see Cavill go, but was looking forward to what Hemsworth would bring to the role. 'I'm sad to see him go. I wish Liam Hemsworth the best of luck. 'I can't wait to see what he brings to the role. But I'm sad to see Henry go. I'm sad to see Henry go, though, because I felt he did a great job."

Cockle joked that Hemsworth stepped into "Geralt of Rivia-sized shoes." Henry really, really embodied: "Henry really, really embodied the role of Geralt in a really great way. So I don't envy Liam."

Let's hope this is the only change to the Geralt role so far. Cockle also said that no one has spoken to him yet about the upcoming "The Witcher" remake (opens in new tab), and we don't know if we can accept another Geralt role change.
