Blizzard Tells Players Who Have Left WoW, "Come Back, the Water's Clean"

World of Warcraft's full release is on the horizon: with the release of "Dragonflight" (opens in new tab), Blizzard is looking to let millions of WoW accounts lapse. You probably know this. It's that guy in the office who used to be into hardcore raiding but is now okay with it, eyes darting from side to side, Blizzard says.

This weekend, all players without a "World of Warcraft" account will have full access to the game and their old characters without the usual subscriptions, access to all expansions, including Shadowlands, Tempest Unleashed, the pre-launch content for Dragonflight (available November 28).

Alongside this are discounts on various in-game character housekeeping options, 30% off character transfers, and faction/race/name changes.

Perhaps the biggest draw is the ability to experience Dragonflight's new starting zone: "After an opening this powerful, you just want to go back. After an opening this powerful, I just want to go back."

It's also a chance to check out WoW's massive UI overhaul. It's going to take more than that to uninstall all the add-ons, though.

Players can opt out of this, but there's also a new starting experience that comes with Dragon Flight: the Timewalking campaign is expandable to level 60 and includes all of Shadowlands.

So far, Dragonflight has been really well done. If you are an old WoW-head and want to create your own character, the game is free to play from now until November 21, 2022 at 10 am PST (6 pm GMT).
