Warzone 2's nuclear weapon is real: Someone detonated it via live streaming.

The biggest rumor about Call of Duty: Warzone 2 since its launch this week is that a nuclear weapon is hidden somewhere on the Al Mazrah map. Since there is no solid information on this and the developers are just teasing a bit, players have been tearing through Al Mazrah trying to find the weapon.

Bow down to Wagnificent. This streamer is the first Warzone 2 player to detonate a nuclear weapon, and he did it live. In fact, as of this writing, he is still live on the same stream, but here is the video that proves that Warzone 2 does have nukes.

Wagnificent and his squad are currently trying to replicate this feat, but what triggered the nuke was not entirely clear at the outset. Here's what we know now:

From the stream, it appears that the squad got a specific quest or contract that appeared on the map at the start of the match. The conditions for receiving the quest are not clear, but Wagnificent believes that his squad might know how they got the quest.

After accepting the "Contract of the Champion," the two began flying to the marked location to collect the shards of the nuke. We know that there are at least three pieces: tritium, beryllium, and plutonium. The nuclear fragments themselves are orb-shaped nuclear cores in special containers. The squad holding the core appears to be marked by a very prominent golden crown against the other squads on the map.

A squad needs all three cores to detonate a nuke, and other players can steal cores from each other. Once all the cores are collected, a nuke can be activated from a marked bomb site.

When detonated, the nuclear explosion occupies Wagnificent's screen, ending the match and placing his squad in first place in a custom-made ending cutscene full of mushroom clouds. Nukes have been in Call of Duty since the original Modern Warfare 2 (how old is that?), when 25 kills would get you a tactical nuke as a kill streak reward.

Wagnificent's squad that accomplished this feat included EthanStellar (open in new tab) and opmarked (open in new tab).

No doubt the nukes will be flying soon, even if this time unlocking them won't be as easy as shooting a bunch of other players.Warzone 2 has been buggy since its launch (open in new tab), but as the midway point of our review shows, even the glitches haven't hasn't detracted from its awesomeness (opens in new tab) -- while the new DMZ mode feels almost like the future of Call of Duty (opens in new tab).
