General
Cross-play for the console versions of Warhammer 40K: Darktide and Game Pass will not happen anytime soon.

Games like Warhammer 40K: Darktide are best enjoyed with friends, so it is natural to seek out as wide a range of potential cooperative play partners as possible among real-life peers. Therefore, cross-play seems like a natural fit for a cooperative PvE experience like Darktide. Unfortunately, at least at launch, Fatshark has confirmed that all potential platforms for Darktide will be siloed against each other.

In a word, "no," a November 14 post on Fatshark's official support site (opens in new tab) states, "We appreciate the value of cross-play and cross-save. However, these options will not be available at launch. At this time, we are unable to comment on when or if cross play and cross save will be available." It states.

Also a firm no: In June, a Fatshark employee responded to a Steam forum post on the subject (opens in new tab), saying, "I'm not saying it's not a possibility or that we're not considering it, but I'm not going to say 'yes, it's possible from day one.' We like the idea and are exploring it, but don't count on it."

Not clear, but don't expect that to be a priority for Fatshark. All of these posts leave the door just a bit open to the possibility. If the game maintains a steady player base and continues to demand it, it could be added in the second or third year.

Before adding Xbox and PC cross-play, Draktide would actually have to be released on Microsoft's consoles, but we don't know when that will be. When the PC version of Darktide was pushed back to November 30 earlier this year, Fatshark said the Xbox version would be released "shortly after that." That could mean early 2023.
