This wallpaper does not exist" because the AI has not yet designed it.
[If you need a new wallpaper for your desktop or phone but can't find just the right one, why not have AI generate one for you? Lame". [This wallpaper doesn't exist (open in new tab)]" The app's title takes advantage of the bespoke nature of the wallpaper, which is that it doesn't actually exist.

A nice little gem of a generator, This Wallpaper does NOT exist is still in beta, and there are a few things that are a bit concerning. First, there is no way to determine the proportions, colors, or subject matter of the image. When you click the generate button, it is generated completely randomly.

Below the image generator, you can select and browse through the features of previously generated images, but there seems to be no way to notify the generator itself.

It would be great to include a link that would allow developers to convert the generated designs to 8K. This is done through upscale.media (opens in new tab). This site also uses AI to process images to high resolution. The site allows you to see if the generated images fit the size of the screen you are using.

Just be careful not to try to send a second image to the upscaling application without saving the first. You risk losing the image if you do not open the 'Get 8k Image' link in a new tab.

The biggest concern with AI image generators is that you cannot be completely sure of the usage rights to the image. There is no information on this site about which datasets the image generators are inspired by. There has been a lot of recent uproar about AI image generation (opens in new tab) and image rights.

It's called scraping, and it's a problem for diligent artists. It can also get you into a lot of trouble if the generated image is not sufficiently distinguishable from the original. Anyone thinking of using an AI image generator for a startup logo, lo-fi album cover, or other money-making project should keep this in mind.

But wallpapers are a safe bet.

On that note, a list of image generators (opens in new tab) may be helpful here. I discovered this the other day and am sifting through them like there is no tomorrow. If you have images or generators to share, I would love to see them on the PCG Forum (opens in new tab).
