'Gears of War' Live Action Film and 'Adult Animated Series' Coming to Netflix

"Gears of War," a third-person shooter in which oddly proportioned men and women wield Volkswagen-sized machine guns with chainsaws and endlessly battle hordes of mutant super-soldiers turned evil, will be available on Netflix Netflix.

The streaming service announced today on Twitter that it is partnering with The Coalition, the developer of "Gears of War," to develop a "live-action feature film" and an "adult animated series" based on the game. That may not be all: Netflix said that perhaps if these first two efforts are successful, "more stories could follow."

While it remains to be seen when this will be released on Netflix, the next obvious step in this process is to launch a fan campaign to cast Dave Bautista as the main character Marcus Fenix in Gears of War. It's a natural progression: aside from the obvious physical similarities, Bautista has long expressed interest in playing the character and actually appeared (more or less) as himself in "Gears of War 5" a few years ago.

Yeah, requests have already started coming in.

The man they call Animal has yet to comment on the Gears announcement, but original lead designer Cliff Bleszinski has some thoughts on it:

As soon as we get information about the Netflix version of Gears, we'll have a release date we will let you know, including any hints.
