In the 10 days since its launch on October 28, "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" has become the best launch in the series' history, with $800 million in the first three days and global sell-through surpassing $1 billion. Black Ops II, the highest-grossing game ever, took 15 days to reach this milestone.

Activision Blizzard accompanied its joyous press release with some statistics: players have played over 200 million hours and over 1 billion games on PC and consoles. The company also claims that the game was the highest grossing entertainment film released in 2022 (although Top Gun Maverick grossed $1.48 billion).
