CS:GO Anchor Fired by Rio Major for Alleged "Incidents" of Booze, Police, and Breaking TVs

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive caster Matthew "Sadokist" Trivett has been fired and sent home from the game's Rio Major. The Canadian has been a major anchor on the CS:GO scene for years and made headlines in 2018 when he stepped down from the ESL Pro League broadcast team after using racist language on a live stream and telling CS:GO persona Don Haci to commit suicide.

The IEM Rio event has settled into a great rhythm and produced some great Counter-Strike, despite some initial technical issues. Trivette's retirement was first announced on November 6, when he was replaced by anchor Anders Blume. At that time, ESL issued the following statement:

"We have confirmed that an incident involving Sadokist occurred last night. As a result, Anders will be providing commentary for the remainder of the tournament. There will be no further commentary and we ask that you focus on the tournament."

Counter-Strike website dust2.us, part of HLTV, reported that Trivett was fired for a violent incident that occurred after he had been drinking. Trivett allegedly went to a bar before returning to the hotel that ESL uses to house all players and staff. There, Trivette went to the ballroom where media production equipment and computers were temporarily set up.

Multiple sources told Dust2.us that upon entering the room, Castor was involved in an altercation before throwing objects at a group of Brazilian CS: GO team FURIA, who were shooting a promotional spot with streamer Gaules. This reportedly escalated the confrontation, leading to an altercation in which Trivette became violent, a TV was smashed, and hotel staff were involved.

According to witnesses, ESL's Michal "Carmac" Blicharz attempted to placate the Canadian, only to be heckled; ESL fired Trivette from the event almost immediately, informed his colleagues, and booked a flight home.

I contacted ESL and asked them to comment on the situation. I also contacted Trivett himself about the allegations; the IEM Rio is underway and the tournament is coming to a business end this weekend.
