Google asks stadium owners not to contact customer support about refunds
[Google has announced that it will "automatically process refunds for all non-Stadia Pro game, add-on content, and subscription fee purchases made through the Stadia Store." However, Google warns that it will take until mid-January to complete most of the process, so we may have to wait a bit.

"Please be patient while we process each transaction. Also, please do not contact customer support. The majority of refunds are expected to be processed by January 18, 2023."

Customers with 20 or fewer eligible purchases will receive a separate email notifying them of their individual refunds, and customers with 21 or more purchases will receive a single email summarizing all refund attempts. If a refund to the original payment type is not possible, an email will be sent explaining how to set up an alternative system; Stadia Pro subscriptions issued before September 29 will not be refunded, but Pro fees incurred after that date will be refunded.

Google also confirmed that Stadia hardware owners "most likely" will not need to return their devices to receive a refund. The company did not specify what situations do not qualify for the no-return requirement, but stated that "in some cases, proof of the device may be required in order to process a refund."

The Stadia store is currently closed and all commercial options, including subscriptions, have been voided. Stadia itself will continue to operate until January 18, 2023, but Google warns that gameplay issues may arise; when playing Stadia games or saved data on other platforms, Google says players should contact the respective developers and publishers. Google said that players should contact their respective developers and publishers and provided a list of several companies that have already announced their intentions and concrete plans: Bethesda Softworks (open in new tab), Bungie (open in new tab), CD Projekt (open in new tab), IO Interactive (open in new tab), Rockstar (open in new tab), Rockstar Games (open in new tab), Ubisoft (open in new tab).
