Paradox CEO Says 2023 Launch of "Bloodlines 2" is "Absolutely Not Impossible

Earlier this month, in an interview with the Swedish website Privata Affärer (opens in new tab), Paradox Interactive CEO Fredrik Vester (who, according to his Twitter bio (opens in new tab), is also the company's resident great old boy) was asked about the status of Vampire - Bloodlines 2: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2, whose launch has been delayed significantly, and through Google Translate, he said, "We can probably set a release date for this game reasonably soon. He called a 2023 release "absolutely not impossible."

When first announced, the release date for the Hardsuit Labs-developed vampire RPG was March 2020; when Bloodlines 2 was announced, there was much anticipation, but a year later lead writer Brian Mitsuda and creative director Kaai Clooney were fired and senior scenario designer Carla Ellison resigned, and the release was postponed indefinitely.

When that version of the game was canceled, the project was nearly dropped altogether, but publisher Paradox decided to give it a second chance at a new studio.

"If you look at the pipeline, we got burned a little bit with 'Bloodlines 2,' so we're a little cautious about announcing things," Wester told Privata Affärer, suggesting that the date was released just a little earlier. He added, "We've said we wouldn't announce anything until we had an absolute launch date, or at least a clear launch month."
