The "Cyberpunk: Edge Runner" cartoon is so popular, it's invading tabletop RPGs next.

Studio Trigger's animated series "Cyberpunk: Edgerunners" (opens in new tab) seems to have revitalized many people's interest in Night City as a setting, and mods based on it dominated the Cyberpunk 2077 mod scene, And now publisher R. Talsorian has announced Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Mission Kit for tabletop RPGs.

According to R. Talsorian, the kit will be "produced in collaboration with CD PROJEKT RED using the Cyberpunk RED tabletop role-playing game engine. It seems to be a sort of introductory set for players new to paper RPGs." The Cyberpunk Edge Runners Mission Kit will "guide series fans new to tabletop role-playing through the process of telling their own stories in Night City," the announcement said. At the same time, existing players of Cyberpunk RED will get their first glimpse of cyberware, firepower, and netrunning skills in the 2077 era.

Cyberpunk RED takes place in 2045, when nuclear fallout from the Fourth Corporate War still pollutes the skies, but R. Talsorian said he also plans to publish a book detailing the video game's timeline setting. The publisher said on Twitter (opens in new tab), "Down the road, a complete sourcebook for the year 2077 will also be published."

Senior editor Wes Fenlon, who enjoyed "Edge Runners" and said the animated series inspired him to give "Cyberpunk 2077" another shot. He writes, "I was surprised at how drawn in I was by the little snapshots of life in Night City." Early on, David was stepping over the same drunks, avoiding the same piles of vomit, and walking down the school blocks with the precision of someone who has taken the same shortcut a thousand times." "It immediately reminded me of leaving V's apartment in Cyberpunk 2077, but much more effective to watch than to play."

No release date has been announced for the Cyberpunk: Edge Runner Mission Kit. It is currently in development and more details will be announced soon," said R. Tarsorian.
