Modern Warfare 2 Players Should Update Nvidia Drivers Now

Nvidia has released a new Game Ready Driver (opens in new tab) that highlights several important features of Modern Warfare 2 and addresses issues introduced in the previous driver release.

We previously reported on these issues in driver 526.47 (opens in new tab). This update introduced stability issues in Modern Warfare 2, causing "flash corruption" during gameplay; Nvidia's previous recommendation was that CoD players either skip 526.47 altogether or, separately from the GeForce Now app, from their website hotfix was to manually download the hotfix.

Update 526.86 bundles these fixes along with further stability and performance improvements. It also mentions DLSS and Reflex support, both of which have been present in the game since launch; Modern Warfare 2 also supports three other methods of AI upscaling (open in new tab), including AMD FSR image reconstruction. I generally preferred DLSS over FSR given the choice, but your mileage may vary.

Reflex, on the other hand, is a proprietary technology that minimizes input latency and requires an Nvidia GPU and a compatible monitor and mouse. For more information, see our guide (opens in new tab) from when Nvidia Reflex was released, but this ultra-detailed technology is just perfect for the sweaty, ultra-competitive world of Call of Duty.

We were already impressed with the graphical splendor of Modern Warfare 2 before this update, but it's nice to see the best CoD (opens in new tab) in years continue to be polished and supported.
