Leaked photos of AMD's next GPU, RDNA 3, have been released.

If two new leaked images of a new reference design for AMD's upcoming Radeon RX 7000 series graphics cards are to be believed, AMD's RDNA 3 cards will look quite gorgeous.

The two images purportedly showing AMD RX 7000 series graphics cards were posted on Twitter by leaker9550pro (opens in new tab) and compared to the Red Team's top performer today, the Radeon RX 6950 XT

The card is a very good performer.

The card appears to be slightly longer than the RX 6950 XT, which suggests it is an RX 7900 XT or similarly powerful GPU. This new card also has a triple-fan design, but the fans may be a bit larger. Looking at the side of the card, one can find a chunky heatsink that is a bit roomier than the RX 6950 XT.

It should be noted, however, that two 8-pin power connectors are included.

AMD's Scott Herkelman confirmed last week that AMD will not be using the new 12VHPWR connector (opens in new tab) on the RTX 4090. This announcement came after reports that the 12VHPWR connector had melted for some unlucky users, and Nvidia has since said it is investigating (opens in new tab).

These leaked photos suggest that AMD will stick to only two 8-pin power connectors at the high end, at least on their reference cards. From this decision, we can infer that AMD aims to keep the TDP of its high-end RDNA 3 cards on par with the current RDNA 2 generation; the RX 6950 XT has a TDP of 335W.

However, we do not know which model this is, if it is really an AMD sample, or if higher cards exist. However, we cannot see any way to cram another power connector into this cooler design, suggesting that this may be the top number at launch. It's also a huge cooler, but that doesn't preclude even bigger GPUs, as Nvidia's massive RTX 4090 (open in new tab) proves.

These images appear to be authentic in some way, especially consistent with the design teased by AMD earlier this year. However, the red PCB and extra pins at the top (and lack of a back plate) suggest that this is an engineering sample, not a finished design.

It won't be long until the official confirmation of the AMD RDNA 3 graphics card; AMD will be hosting a live stream event (open in new tab) called "together we advance_gaming" on November 3.
