Black Friday will be hard to beat this $729 RTX 3060 gaming laptop.

I'd be surprised if any Black Friday gaming laptop sale (opens in new tab) offers a better deal than this Gigabyte RTX 3060 laptop. Because you can get a really powerful gaming laptop for around $600, and Newegg's $729 (opens in new tab) is a steal.

We're talking about a sloppy notebook, to be sure, but one with an excellent spec list for this amount of money. We've long talked about aiming for under $1,000 for an RTX 3060 system, but rigs like this one have forced us to revise that down to under $800.

And while there are other ~$800 RTX 3060 laptops, none offer better core specs than the Gigabyte A5 K1. 1080p IPS screen with 144Hz refresh rate, a panel that complements the Nvidia graphics card and 16GB of system memory. And it is dual channel with a pair of 8GB DDR4 modules.

The Ryzen 5 5600H CPU, while not particularly common in gaming laptops on the market today, is a powerful AMD 5000 series processor with six Zen 3 cores and 12 threads of CPU power. and provides ample computing power for non-gaming applications as well.

It is also important that the machine has a spare NVMe slot inside for easy access. Important because only the 512GB SSD can age rapidly, but the fact that a secondary SSD can be added quickly and relatively easily is actually a huge advantage.

However, if you were expecting a sleek ~$700 gaming laptop, you will be disappointed. This is a chunky 2 kg notebook that doesn't look particularly pretty, but that doesn't stop it from having plenty of cooling space inside.
