Nvidia Fixes Modern Warfare 2 Bug in Latest GeForce Driver

Nvidia has released its latest Game Ready Driver hotfix that it claims fixes a problem some players were experiencing with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

The issue was reported by Call of Duty's lead PC studio, Beenox, on October 28, when Modern Warfare 2 was in full release (opens in new tab). 'We noticed a stability issue with the latest NVIDIA driver 526.47 in Call of Duty #MWII. For now, we recommend using driver 516.59 or 522.25."

Nvidia later confirmed that there was a problem, stating in an email sent to PC Gamer, "This is why our latest Game Ready driver was not recommended for this title in the first place."

This is not super helpful, as upgrading to the latest drivers ahead of a new game release is basically a given for PC gamers, but fortunately driver rollbacks (open in new tab) are a relatively minor headache. However, this is no longer an issue now.

Nvidia states that a hotfix that brings the driver to version 526.61 resolves the following issues:

Nvidia's 526.61 hotfix driver is available for download directly from Nvidia's customer service site. (Opens in new tab.) Hotfixes are not offered through the GeForce Experience software, Nvidia explains in a separate tweet (opens in new tab). The download is not an upgrade, but a complete standalone installation, which includes the full drivers and the option to install or upgrade the GeForce Experience software.
