Modern Warfare 2 to Implement Ranked Mode in 2023

It's time to say goodbye to Call of Duty Vanguard and Cold War's Ranked Warfare modes, as Treyarch and Infinity Ward have announced that Modern Warfare 2 will make its Ranked Warfare debut in 2023.

Cold War's League and Vanguard's Ranked Warfare will end this month, with players having until November 22 to receive rewards for both games.Treyarch said in a tweet (opens in new tab) that "the success of these modes has directly contributed to the future of Ranked Warfare," and added: "We sincerely appreciate all the data, feedback and play time collected over the past two years. We look forward to sharing much more soon."

Treyarch and Infinity Ward have promised many things about Modern Warfare 2's ranked mode, including competitive modes, rewards, ranked skills, visible skill ratings, top 250 leaderboards, and more. The year 2023 is still vague at this point, but it will probably be implemented early in the new year.

Along with the announcement of the rankings, the two developers also revealed that the CDL Moshpit multiplayer playlist will be available upon the launch of Season 1 on November 16. Details on the game modes and maps included in the playlist are still unknown and will be revealed "closer to launch" (open in new tab). There is usually a pretty nice mishmash of modes available, including Call of Duty staples like Team Deathmatch, Domination, and Kill Confirmed. Hardcore mode (opens in new tab) will also be available on November 16, and Season 1 is already shaping up to be a good one.
