Watch the trailer for Blight, a co-op game where filthy knights fight filthy zombies: Survival

Blight: If you like zombies, knights, and historically inspired slashing precision armor and weapons, "Blight: Survival" sounds like fun. Recently revealed in a gameplay trailer, Blight is a "four-player co-op action-horror roguelite" that takes players on an adventure through a war-torn no man's land between warring nations where something terrible has occurred that turns people and corpses into monsters.Blight: Survival has not yet been released, and the game is still under development, release date has not been set.

The trailer is quite entertaining, following armored soldiers through a muddy landscape of ruined towns and the swamps and forests in between. Blight is set in an alternate 14th century world, and the look is surprisingly faithful to the original. The game is a rogue light that allows for looting, exploration, and cooperative play for up to four players, and what you find in one play session carries over to the next.

Development and self-publishing is being handled by Haenir Studio, an indie company consisting of two people: Ulric and Mads. This is incredible, but we live in an age where tools and experience in development are rapidly expanding what can be accomplished by a small team.

As seen in the longbow, dagger, and sword featured in the trailer, "Blight" intends to have weapons and armor that can be customized to fit your play style. Also, according to the description, Blight takes place on "a huge map filled with secrets and lots of coins."

We like that there is an element of realism to the combat, and that heavily armored combatants can be very dangerous to unarmored combatants. I especially like the fact that he gets one thing right about that era of plated armor. A man in armor's entire body is a weapon, and the hero proves it with his fierce tackles and armor-like blows. [Blight: Survival is available at the official website (opens in new tab) and on Steam. (opens in new tab) [11]
