Amidst the grand celebration of the 25th anniversary of the original Fallout, Bethesda announced that Fallout 4 will receive a free "next-gen update (opens in new tab)" in 2023.

Details are scarce, but Bethesda says the update will include "performance mode features for higher frame rates, quality features for 4K resolution gameplay, bug fixes, and even bonus content for the Creation Club." It will also be released for the Xbox Series X-S and PlayStation 5 consoles.

Bethesda has said that today's announcement marks the end of the Fallout anniversary festivities, so I guess that means no surprise announcement of a new Obsidian-made Fallout game.
