Director Hideo Kojima on the age of online conspiracies: "It's almost a new kind of sin for mankind.

Director Hideo Kojima took a break from posting lunch snaps to give an interview to the Guardian. The prominent designer was erroneously linked to the assassination of Shinzo Abe (open in new tab) earlier this year. The vicious fakery that began online and spread to real news was a painful irony for its creator, who predicted an age of junk information.

"Because the story is digital, it could remain online for millions of years. People post them without taking that into account." That's almost a new kind of sin for humanity. No, I'm not happy that I predicted these things."

"I'm not happy that I predicted these things.

Kojima is in a rather derailed mood in this interview, and interestingly, he insists on his normality while making the Guardian reporter take the Cobid test before meeting with him.

"I do show some of my daily life," Kojima mused at one point about his social media habits. Those who are jealous of food, especially delicious-looking cutlet sandwiches, may disagree.

The director briefly mentions the Metal Gear series, which is some sort of progress after his largely silent career since leaving Konami. He says, "Now, when I see young kids playing and enjoying Metal Gear Solid, a game that was made 30 years ago, ...... my feelings are starting to change."

The interview then concludes with a teaser for an upcoming game, typical of Kojima. It is almost certain that Kojima Productions has formed a partnership with Microsoft. It is well known that the game is based on Microsoft's cloud technology at its core.

"This is almost like a new medium," said Kojima. If it succeeds, it will not only change the game industry, but the film industry as well. While it can be a successful experiment, there is a long distance between experimentation and everyday use. For the first person, everything is difficult. But I want to be the first. I want to be the first."
