Oh, sorry, I was just admiring the gorgeous die shot of the Intel Core i9 13900K.

Frtizchens Fritz has done it again. This close-up chip photographer has released infrared images of Intel's Core i9 13900K CPU.

Fritz published a few on Twitter (open in new tab), but the rest can be seen on his Flickr account (open in new tab). It is best to view them in the highest quality possible, as our gallery viewer does not do them justice.

The CPU photographed in this series is a 252mm2 Raptor Lake B0 die. His gallery shows a less detailed view of the Raptor Cove core, the Gracemont cluster, and its associated L2 and L3 caches.

Fritz breaks down the small core to size below:

The powerful Raptor Lake CPU launched last week, and its gaming performance did not disappoint, despite being a somewhat power-hungry chip. Our review of this chip (open in new tab) called it "the most impressive CPU money can buy right now."

More recently, Fritz took an amazing die shot (opens in new tab) of the PlayStation 5's SoC, highlighting the differences between console and desktop CPUs. And if you go back through his collection of chip photos, some of which date back to the dawn of gaming processors, you'll find plenty of eye-popping gorgeousness.

Intel recently announced plans to release a 6GHz Core i9 version "right out of the box" (open in new tab) early next year, which Intel CEO Pat Gelsinger called "a major milestone for client computing." Until then, we'll keep you posted on this 5.0 release. Until then, we can only stare at this 5.8GHz beast.
