Chloe Grace Moretz, a budding PC gamer, asks for help with her build on Twitter.

There is no better bait to get PC gamers hooked than someone seeking PC-building advice on social media. The star of "Kick-Ass" and the new sci-fi series "The Peripheral" recently tweeted about her gaming habits, saying in September that she was "hooked" on the "Modern Warfare 2" beta and wanted to get serious about sim racing. Now she seems to be at the tipping point of becoming a serious PC gamer.

Earlier Wednesday, Moretz tweeted this bait, "To all my gaming friends out there to set up a PC, where should I start and how deep into the complexity of it should I go?" I asked.

Three hours later, she had about 750 replies, with influencers and other fans recommending boutique PC builders, others recommending homebrew, and brands throttling her rig. (Special thanks must go to reader Chris Thornett, who recommended PC Gamer's Alan Dexter as a seasoned hardware expert.)

If I were Moretz, I would have quickly given up replying to a thread with over 750 replies, but I was heartened that she replied to several people who recommended homebrew over homebrew rigs and called PCPartPicker a valuable resource. As our EIC, Evan Lahti, wrote a few years ago, building a homebuilt PC is a special experience.

"It's like adult Lego," one fan tweeted, to which Moretz responded.

"Adult LEGO is literally a dream come true. [After years of high prices and lack of inventory, it's finally a good time to build PCs again:

Moretz is a racing fan and already has a wheel setup and care package from Logitech. I like to imagine that if she and Henry Cavill ever cross paths, they will have a deep conversation about Noctua fans. They really are the best.
