Multiversus postpones Black Adam launch

Bad news, MultiVersus fans: the appearance of DC Comics anti-hero Black Adam has been delayed, with Player First Games announcing that he is not yet "ready" to join the platform fighter.

He was first revealed in August, but had already appeared on the leaked MultiVersus character list prior to that, alongside Stripes the Gremlin. Initially, he was supposed to appear as a wild supervillain to oppose Shazam. More recently, he has shifted in a more anti-hero direction, but can still take a beating from Superman.

Black Adam was supposed to be released this week, perhaps loosely tied to the Dwayne Johnson film that opened on October 21. Unfortunately, his release was postponed at the last minute.

"Gods willing, Black Adam is not ready to change the multi-versus hierarchy," the developer said in a tweet." Stay tuned, and thank you for your patience, mortals," the developer tweeted.

Technical systems designer Devin "Reslived" Gajewski said the choice to postpone was "rough," but added that "time was needed. I think this patch is worth the wait more than any other. We just have to get there.

Black Adam's re-release date has not yet been set. He was supposed to appear with a new arcade mode, but Player First did not mention if that has been postponed; with MultiVersus Season 1 ending on November 15, hopefully we will see Black Adam and Superman face off before then!

It is unclear who will be next on the roster besides Black Adam and Stripe, who were released on October 12. Leaked data-mining suggests that the Joker will be coming soon, plus he will be voiced by the legendary Mark Hamill; outside of DC fighters, characters from Lord of the Rings and Mortal Kombat could be joining the roster in the near future.
