Halo Infinite" to include features that should have been released in a few weeks.

Remember Halo Infinite It seems like only yesterday that we were eagerly awaiting the return of Microsoft's flagship FPS. It felt and looked great, and the surprise appearance of multiplayer wasn't bad, but then ...... It seems to have somewhat lurked in the shadows.

Infinite has struggled to maintain momentum, but in hindsight, that may be because it was released in such a disjointed way; Halo 3 is perhaps the pinnacle of the series, in part because it was released as a complete and comprehensive package. Everything was there.

"Infinite" still awaits campaign co-op and, more importantly, Forge mode, and if there's one thing that will liven up the competitive and community scenes in "Infinite," it's "Halo's" bespoke level and mode creation suite, " Forge."

Forge is finally coming as part of the game's winter update scheduled for November 8, along with campaign co-op for up to four players. The latter will come with a mission replay option, allowing groups to go through completed sections as they please.

Forge boasts "thousands of new objects" along with various additions and improvements. Undoubtedly the most interesting elements of this are the scripts and how players will be able to incorporate bots (as well as pistols that fire rockets), but the most important thing now is getting them into people's hands.

The winter update will also add several new modes, including a new free battle pass, two maps built by 343 in Forge, and a CTF variant. I like Infinite well enough, but going back is a challenge. The initial wave of enthusiasm has long since peaked and the nostalgia has faded. It is now too familiar, and not in a good way.

For me, what gave the old "Halo" games their long tail wasn't grinding out campaigns in Nightmare or endless double-teaming (although I did a lot of that), but the silly side that made Forge sing: Halo carts, Grifball, Meatgrinder mode, where one Spartan with a minigun faces an army of swords, and an endless array of good and bad maps to bounce around on; as a game called "Halo Infinite," it's about time it started offering such possibilities.
