Overwatch 2's First Major Balance Adjustment Patch Targets Problem Heroes

The next patch for Overwatch 2 will target some of the strongest heroes currently in the game; in a post on Blizzard's forums (opens in new tab), Overwatch 2 community manager Andy "AndyB" Belford explained the November 15 He explained the nerfs that will be applied. The changes target Sombra, Genji, Zarya, D.Va, and a new ninja-themed support, Chirico. The full list of changes is as follows:

We previously discussed how the best tanks in North America (open in new tab) all play Zarya, and with Overwatch 2's shift to a single-tank meta, many are now playing damage-oriented, Russian weightlifters such as Secondary tanks feared they would be left behind; Blizzard seems to have over-corrected, and her new double bubble has made her a near-always-unbeatable raid boss of sorts.

The shortened uptime seems like a smart shift to tone her down without compromising her fantasy. D.Va, on the other hand, maintains her new and improved defensive matrix while lowering her damage and accuracy a notch.

Support slayer Genji thoroughly benefited from the shift to a single tank meta. This required more shuriken kills, and the clips (magazine forearms?) were more effective. Sombra will likewise be less likely to be a solo assassin, especially with the significant nerf to hacking damage (from 40% to 25%).

New heroes always need at least a little tuning after they are introduced, and the reduction in invincibility time for Kirkio would pose a greater risk to reckless teleportation.

All of these seem like sensible changes to balance the hero shooter, a game we have loved since 2016 (opens in new tab) despite some progression and monetization issues (opens in new tab).

While we are here, if Blizzard is open to comments on balance, I would like to suggest some changes for Cassidy.
