Remember when the world was young and Team Fortress 2 was new, and Valve released Meet The Team (opens in new tab) character spotlight videos to promote the game?

The "Search for Sandvich" series featured the voice actors for TF2's sniper, heavy, medic, announcer, and other characters roaming around small, unprotected American towns in search of sandwiches. It all started in early September when the game's voice actors got together in Seattle for PAX West 2022, and it seems to have snowballed from there.

So far, the performers have baffled deli workers, confused convenience store clerks, and sent at least one bystander into a fit of laughter at a Twin Peaks-themed cafe in North Bend, Washington. One has to admire the willingness of random passersby to greet with humor a bunch of strangers screaming at each other about a sandwich with an accent that no real person has ever had. Maybe it's a common thing in Washington. I've never been there.

The latest video was released last Saturday and features Dennis Bateman, who voiced Spy and Pyro in TF2, and Liz McCarthy from Twin Peaks: Fire Walk With Me. I have no idea whether the "Twin Peaks" tie-in actually amounts to anything or is just a brilliant and inexplicable coincidence, but David Lynch's sudden appearance in one of these vids is probably to announce the weather (opens in new tab) ...

There are tons of videos like this already, but here are a few of them that made me chuckle.
