Kazutaka Odaka, creator of the murderous high school visual novel series "Danganronpa," said he is not averse to the concept of bringing it back in another game.

In an interview with Twinfinite, Odaka discussed his upcoming game "Rain Code" and his decision to choose an entirely new storyline instead of making a sequel to "Danganronpa." He said, "It's not that I don't want to make a sequel to Danganronpa, but I have a lot of ideas and I want to make something new." Maybe one day I'll come back, maybe."

He also added that developer Spike Chunsoft is not pushing for another pop art murder fest, joking that if he asked to make another one, "they might say yes, so I didn't ask."

Odaka also called Danganronpa "more of a niche game." These are surprising words given the game's explosive popularity and thriving cosplay community. He said it "would be cool" to return to the series eventually, but that he is ultimately focused on creating and experimenting with new stories.
