Jan Rabson, Voice Actor for "Leisure Suit Larry," Dies

Jan Rabson, a prolific voice actor best known to gamers as the nasally voice of "Leisure Suit Larry," died on October 13 at the age of 68. Rabson's death was reported by CultureSlate (opens in new tab) and confirmed by friends on social media. The cause of death was not disclosed.

Rabson first voiced the character Larry Laffer in 1993's "Leisure Suit Larry 6": followed by "Leisure Suit Larry's Casino" and "Leisure Suit Larry: Magna Cum Laude." and on to "Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded," a 2013 remake of 1987's "Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards"; in 2018, he was the voice of "Wet Dreams Don't Dry" and returned to the role two years later in "Wet Dreams Dry Twice."

Rabson's other game credits (open in new tab) include King's Quest: as well as "Mask of Eternity," "Sacrifice," "Star Wars: Bounty Hunter," "Toy Story 3," Thimbleweed Park," among others.

Games are actually a relatively minor part of Rabson's repertoire. He was far more active in film and television: his IMDB (open in new tab) page lists appearances in numerous animated feature films and animated shorts, including Pixar and Disney blockbusters such as "Toy Story," "Mulan," "Cars," "A Bug's Life," "Up He has been listed as the voice of Tetsuo in Streamline Pictures' dubbed version of "Akira," and has also had supporting roles in several television shows, beginning with the early 80s television staples "The Facts of Life," "One Day at a Time," "Knight Rider," and He has also had supporting roles in several television shows.
