The first "Overwatch 2" double XP weekend starts tomorrow, but it may not be as helpful as you might expect.

Overwatch 2 got off to a rough start at launch on October 4 (opens in new tab), and to make up for it Blizzard promised to host "several" double XP weekends. No dates were announced at that time, but today Blizzard revealed that the first double match XP weekend will begin tomorrow.

The first double match XP weekend will begin on October 21 at 11 a.m. PT/2 p.m. ET and run through the same time on October 24; the second weekend will take place one week later, from October 28 through October 31, and the third weekend from November 24 through November 28.

Would three double XP weekends count as "several" Dictionary.com (opens in new tab) defines "several" as meaning "more than two, less than many." Of course, "many (open in new tab)" means "many, numerous. In other words, "Several" means "more than two," and Blizzard would have made it official.

Despite this, the reaction to the date announcement on Reddit (opens in new tab) was not overly positive. Several users complained that the rewarding effort on Blizzard's part was very low, while others noted that only match XP would be doubled, while daily and weekly challenges (which offer by far the most Battle Pass XP) would continue to offer the normal amount.

"Daily and Weekly [Challenge] XP levels up literally 10 times faster than Match XP," wrote g0atmeal." So unless you grind for hours at a time, this is not going to make much of a difference."

Blizzard also announced today that "Halloween Terror" will return to "Overwatch" starting October 25. Details of the event were not announced, but previous Halloween Terror events included new cosmetics, weekly icons, sprays, skin rewards, and a co-op horde mode for Junkenstein's Revenge.
