Kerbal Space Program 2 is finally here!

After a long wait, the release date for the green bean-flying Kerbal Space Program 2 has finally been set; after three years and four delays, the rocket-building sim will hit Steam and Epic on February 24, 2023.

After its announcement at Gamescom 2019, the game was originally slated for an early 2020 release. You guessed it, the previous era. Naturally, it was postponed, and shortly after that the developer moved from Star Theory Games to Intercept Games; it was pushed back to 2021, and then again to late 2022. Then, in May of this year, it was postponed again, albeit only by a few months. It is good to see a release date confirmed, even if it is not a full release yet.

The game's Early Access comes with over 350 "new and improved parts," plus the option to customize and paint various small spacecraft. Players can also tour the entire Carborough system, with "classic locations" such as Kelvin, Mun, and Joule making a comeback.

Intercept also offers future additions. Some are already promised, such as multiplayer and mod support, which will be introduced to the game "in the coming months," as well as additional features such as interstellar travel and colonies that can be placed throughout the galaxy. [Nate Simpson, creative director of The Intercept, said he is "very excited" that "Kerbal Space Program 2" is being released in Early Access. For Kerbal fans, they can see for themselves the incredible progress we've made as we reach the final stages of development, and at the heart of KSP2 is exploration, discovery, and overcoming the forces of gravity with more boosters." Lead producer Nestor Gomez said the team will "listen and see what the reaction is" to the sequel, adding that "as with the original game, this journey will help us leverage a very powerful tool: our passionate community."
