A new update to the fun and relaxing tile placement game "Dorfromantik" (opens in a new tab) has been released on Steam, adding a new biome with pink cherry trees and small boxy houses.

The biome was created for the Nintendo Switch version of "Dorfromantik" but has been added to the PC version along with some optimizations and world options. The update is free.

The biggest change in this update is full controller support, which was implemented in the Switch version but added to the PC version. This means that Dorfromantik works quite well with the Steam deck, and developer Toukana Interactive believes that Valve will mark full compatibility in the near future.

The update also includes a number of performance optimizations." In order to port Dorfromantik to Nintendo Switch, we had to do a lot of performance optimizations, and we will be tweaking a few more parts of the game to accommodate the PC version's broader hardware requirements," the developers said.

One of those is a constraint added for the Switch hardware that adds a boundary to the normally infinite world where tiles are placed. Since it can be a cool way to play, this rule can now be added to games in custom mode.

Dorfromantik is a tile placement puzzle game with a laid-back city builder vibe. I would call it more of a landscape builder myself, but it is lovely anyway. As Chris Livingston said last year, "Dorfromantik is a soothing puzzle game that very occasionally makes me want to punch a train." (Open in new tab) For me, the game is very relaxing and I can play for hours just fitting the tiles into the little landscapes.

You can find Dorfromantik's announcement (opens in new tab) and full patch notes (opens in new tab) on Steam. (opens in new tab) [13].
