Hoping gaming laptops with RTX 3060 and RTX 3050 stay under $1,000

Amazon Prime Early Access Sale has begun. (Open in new tab) Laptops are also discounted. If you like to game outdoors but prefer your trusty old keyboard and mouse (or trackpad) to the sticks and buttons of the Steam Deck, you'll find the event's slate of portable powerhouses useful.

Even if you don't mind playing games at your neighborhood Starbucks, the extra power offered by a gaming laptop will come in handy if you do heavy editing work, run many programs at once, or try to open more than four Chrome tabs. Being able to bump up the big power to basic productivity tasks is really handy.

Below is a list of gaming laptops currently available for under $1,000. The Gigabyte A7 K1, for example, is a huge machine with an RTX 3060, 16GB of RAM, and a 17.3-inch 1080p panel running at 144hz. Normally priced at $1,299, the current sale drops it to $999 (open in new tab).

Admittedly, there is one drawback here. The laptops listed below have up to 512GB of storage, and one of them, the Acer Nitro 5 (opens in new tab), has only 256GB. Unless you limit yourself to very old or indie games, you'll be cramped by all accounts.

But don't worry. We've gathered our Amazon Prime Day SSD Deals (opens in a new tab) into one handy page. If you're buying an SSD for your laptop, you'll want to skip the internal drive, but there are plenty of well-priced and fast external SSDs to plug into your new machine.
