The "Cyberpunk 2077" mod allows you to become a real edge runners psycho.

In the world of cyberpunk, you can never have too much of a good thing. Giving yourself an array of cyberware that enhances your body may seem like a great idea: cybernetically enhanced vision, leg implants that allow you to double jump, retractable blades that pop out of your arms, and so on. But replacing human parts with machines comes with drawbacks. The gradual loss of humanity can lead to cyberpsychosis, a mental disorder that includes symptoms such as loss of empathy, impulsive outbursts, and extreme violence.

In cyberpunk tabletop games, a player's humanity is controlled by empathy, which declines with each new cyberware installation and can eventually lead to cyberpsychosis, at which point the player's character is controlled by the GM. Cyberpsychosis is featured prominently in the Netflix animated series "Cyberpunk: Edge Runners," in which several characters struggle with this affliction.

However, the condition is not particularly well explored in Cyberpunk 2077. While there is a series of missions to track down and neutralize the cyber-psycho rampaging through Night City, most of them are brief investigative activities that lead to boss fights with powerful and unhinged enemies. There are ways to explore this concept a little deeper with your own character.

As discovered by GamesRadar, Cyberpunk 2077 prolific modder djkovrik created the Wannbe Edgerunner mod. This mod adds a new humanity system to the game, bringing it closer to the Edgerunners of TTRPG and cyberpunk, with cyberpsychosis effects triggered if humanity drops too low.

It is not only adding new cyberware to the body that lowers the humanity score. Committing murder also lowers one's humanity and functions like a morality system. For example, "Berserk," which, when activated, gives a buff to melee and throwing weapon attacks, and "Sandevistan," which buffs blade attacks (also seen in the anime series). In other words, plug in your cyberware, rampage through the streets and murder innocents with your special attacks, and you are already a cyber-psycho in action.

The side effects of cyberpsychosis are mild at first, with a minor visual glitch and a debuff to the critical damage modifier. However, the symptoms become more severe, with more extreme visual glitches and a debuff to critical hit probability. In full cyber-psycho status, speed, armor, and health regeneration are buffed and more powerful, but vision is swamped by glitches and cops are automatically dispatched.

It's not all bad news. Buying higher quality cyberware will not cost your humanity as much as buying inferior junk parts and stuffing them into your body. You can also inject yourself with neuroleptics to offset the plummet in your humanity, as seen in the animated series. Available for purchase at the Ripper Dock, this injection will eliminate the side effects of cyberpsychosis and freeze the decrease in humanity points for as long as the drug is in effect.

This would be an interesting system to add to Cyberpunk 2077. It would definitely give you some hesitation when you are thinking of massacring civilians, and it would give you new options when you are thinking about what cyberware to install on your own body The Wannabe Edgerunner mod can be found on Nexus Mods.
