Nvidia's RTX 4090 (opens in new tab) will be available on October 12 at 6 am PT, 9 am ET, and 2 pm BST. We have been relentlessly benchmarking various versions of the new Ada Lovelace GPU for the past few weeks, and it represents a truly impressive piece of technical graphics wizardry.

No other graphics card on the market today can come close to the power and performance of the RTX 4090, whether for rendering, gaming, or ray tracing above 4K AMD will be launching a new chiplet-based RDNA 3 graphics card, but rumors suggest that its top card is unlikely to surpass the RTX 4090.

A more affordable Ada graphics card will also be available next month, but it is difficult to say whether they will have the same generational impact as the RTX 4090. We are not sure.

So for now, if you want the magic of the world's best graphics card, you need a price tag of $1,599. This is the base MSRP and the price of the excellent Nvidia Founders Edition, but there are far more expensive options available. That said, it would be hard to find a reason to spend $2,000 on the Asus ROG RTX 4090.

But if you want a new high-performance graphics card, look no further. But don't expect this card to last. Given its extreme price, it may not disappear as quickly as previous releases. There are also numerous third-party cards available. However, I still expect the first shipment of RTX 4090 cards to sell out soon after launch. In other words, it is in your best interest to get in line early.

So where should we channel our hard-earned cash in exchange for the fastest consumer GPU ever produced?

No Amazon listing yet, but we expect a link to be provided by the time the product goes on sale elsewhere. Funny old company...

Not many retailers list prices for the RTX 4090 at the moment, but here are the landing pages of the main GPU distributors in the U.K. The RTX 4090's price, recently raised thanks to current government financial fun, is 1,699 for the Founders Edition starting at £1,699 for the Founders Edition.

Amazon has not yet listed the RTX 4090 card, but the page is expected to be available as soon as the embargo is lifted and sales actually begin.

Overclockers has posted a full list of cards scheduled to be in stock, but no prices have yet been posted for any of the cards until sales actually begin at 2:00 PM today.

For reference, the 4K performance of the new Nvidia cards is listed below. Just in case you want to know how fast they are compared to their high-end competitors. Also, to discourage you from spending $1,200 on an RTX 3090 Ti just because of the $800 discount.

Now that the RTX 4090 is available, it is not worth the price.
