If your rank in "Overwatch 2" is too low, it may not be your fault.

Blizzard has released a big blog post recapping the first week of "Overwatch 2" and addressing some feedback and issues. First of all, despite the calls for buffs and nerfs, Blizzard says that none of the heroes are far ahead of the others and their win percentages are about the same (opens in new tab). Also, quite comically, if you are placed lower in the ranks than you think you are in a matchup, it may not be your fault.

Because of this snafu, Blizzard has apologized to players who were ranked lower than expected (opens in new tab). In fact, there was a bug that caused some players to be ranked much lower than they should have been.

"We found a bug that affected players' skill rates. Our latest patch includes a fix to quickly return players to their true rank, which will be reflected in the next competitive ranking update." You can continue to play to get a boost and move up to the correct rank. Players who have not yet competed in a competitive match will not experience this issue once the fix goes live."

In other words, at least some people now have an excuse. It is a little annoying that there may be no way to instantly determine where people should be placed and that they still have to rank up, but at least the bug has been squashed.

Additionally, this section addresses the fact that some players have already given feedback to the developers about how the game should celebrate your skill tier and division. Changes are underway to that end, but Blizzard has nothing to share right now.
