Valve is working on a fix for the FreeSync issue with the Steam Deck dock.

Last week, Valve officially released the official docking station (opens in new tab) for the Steam Deck (opens in new tab). Now that it's in users' hands, Valve is addressing some issues with the 90 dock that were raised by the community, and according to this Twitter (opens in new tab) post by Valve, the docking station's FreeSync and DisplayPort MST features still needs work.

Valve writes that the team is "actively working on these bugs and will be shipping software and firmware updates soon." However, Valve does not elaborate on how "soon."

Steam Deck users have been reporting MST and FreeSync issues on the DeckSupport Reddit (opens in new tab) for several days, but how widespread these issues are is difficult to ascertain. However, the problem must be serious enough that Valve has announced that they are releasing a fix.

MST (or Multi-Stream Transport) enables multi-monitor support for the Deck Docking Station, which requires two external monitors to be connected via HDMI and DisplayPort. similar to Nvidia's G-Sync), which helps eliminate screen tearing and stuttering on external monitors.

Valve has even updated the official Steam Dock product page, stating that FreeSync support is underway and that it and MST updates are "coming soon." The Steam Deck (opens in new tab) and Steam Deck docking station (opens in new tab) are currently available without pre-order through Steam, with an expected 1-2 week delivery time.

In other Steam Deck news, a recent update (opens in new tab) allows for even longer custom boot animations.
