Company of Heroes 3 postponed to early next year

World War II Postponed Relic's next installment in its iconic RTS series, Company of Heroes 3 (opens in new tab), has suffered a postponement just one month shy of its original release date. Instead of being released on November 17, Company of Heroes 3 will now be released about four months later, on February 23, 2023.

Relic has been quite candid about the reasons for the postponement. During the extended development period of a few months, the development team will be focusing all their efforts on fixing bugs, tweaking mechanics, and brushing up on what is already there. We don't plan on adding any new features in the next four months."

The development team has repeatedly emphasized that the development of Company of Heroes 3 was shaped by fans (opens in new tab), and Relic has similarly emphasized the delay. The announcement lists the tweaks, fixes, and improvements the developers have already made based on fan feedback, and promises "weekly" updates between now and February 23.

Fans are encouraged to participate in the game's development on the Company of Heroes forum (which opens in a new tab) and Discord, but there probably won't be time to create another player-invented faction over the next four months. Hey, maybe we'll do it in Company of Heroes 4.

We've already attended a hands-on with Company of Heroes 3 and enjoyed what it had to offer, at least when PCG's strategy connoisseur Fraser Brown isn't paying tribute to the game's tanks (opens in new tab) and the multiplayer pre alpha version (opens in new tab), he enjoyed the bloody mayhem of the game. It's a shame that we'll have to wait another few months to see Company of Heroes 3 in its full glory, but even a lengthy delay is better than being rushed out in a half-baked state.
