Acer is a global leader in the development and manufacture of high quality, high performance, low cost, and high quality products and services for the automotive industry.

Acer manufactures a wide range of gaming hardware, including laptops, desktop PCs, monitors, and peripherals. And now, with the help of Intel's Arc A770 GPU, it appears to be entering the graphics card market. So far, all we have is a tweet (opens in new tab) introducing Predator BiFrost, but it's enough to pique our interest.

The images show a 2.5-slot design with a pair of fans that appear to offer a mix of an open-air approach and a blower design. It also features dual 8-pin power connectors to provide ample power. This card could be pushed more powerfully than Intel's limited edition A770.

Since this is an Intel Arc A770 GPU (opens in new tab), we can see that it is the top card in Intel's lineup and uses the full ACM-G10 silicon: 32 Xe cores, 256-bit memory interface, 2,100 MHz graphics clock, and a total board power consumption of 225W.

What is not clear at this stage is the card's claimed VRAM capacity: we know that cards with 8GB of VRAM will be manufactured by board partners, but we should also see cards with 16GB. So far, MSI, Gunnir, and now Asrock have been announced as official board partners.

This assumes, of course, that Acer will offer these cards to DIY builders. There is a reasonable chance that these cards are purely OEM cards for their own Predator desktop systems and not available otherwise, but, well, one can dream.

If Acer were to release these, it would be an interesting time to enter the market, as we have recently seen EVGA announce that they will stop making graphics cards (open in new tab). It should not be overlooked that these Intel GPUs are considerably less expensive than their competitors.

Intel plans to release a limited edition of the Arc Alchemist A770 for $349 on October 12, the same day Nvidia releases the GeForce RTX 4090 (opens in new tab). At this stage, however, no release date has been set for the $329 8GB card.
