CD Projekt has announced a full sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 as well as future expansions.

"Orion is the codename for our next cyberpunk installment, which will further develop the cyberpunk franchise and continue to exploit the potential of this dark future world," the studio tweeted.

Multiplayer may be a factor, although no details are available at this time other than that it will happen: CD Projekt also stated that its future plans include "bringing multiplayer to most new games to enrich the single-player experience."

It's been quite a turnaround for "Cyberpunk 2077," which was in very rough shape when it launched in 2020: two years, multiple updates, and a popular Netflix anime later, player numbers have skyrocketed (opens in new tab) and sales recently surpassed 20 million units (opens in new tab).

CD Projekt is also working on a new Witcher trilogy, alongside a completely original project codenamed Hadar, and has a long-term vision of "a single-player story and multiplayer experience" featuring both The company announced that it will establish "three enduring franchises."
