CD Projekt Announces New Witcher Trilogy, Three New Movies in Six Years

CD Projekt Red is currently in a rush of announcements. Not only did they announce a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 (open in new tab) and plans to include multiplayer (open in new tab) in their upcoming releases, but they also finally announced the future of The Witcher.

Project Polaris is the codename for The Witcher's next game, which, according to images posted on Twitter, will indeed be "a story-driven open-world RPG that builds on the legacy of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." But this is not the end of the story. This is the beginning of a new complete Witcher trilogy, and all three games in this trilogy will be released within six years.

Project Polaris is currently still in pre-production, so it will be some time before the six years begin, but either way, it is a very exciting time for Witcher fans. While the subject matter has yet to be revealed, CD Projekt Red has already indicated one important detail for the story's plot: the school of the Witcher that the protagonist may come from.

When The Witcher 4 was announced, images of cat-like medals were released to mark the new chapter in the series. At first many thought it was a "school for cats," but some fans thought it looked like a "school for lynxes." It is believed to have been founded by Lambert (of "What a jerk" fame) and sorceress Keira Metz, along with other School of the Cat veterans.

Details of what we can expect are still thin on the ground, but three games are better than one. Well, as long as CD Projekt Red has learned from the release of Cyberpunk 2077 and is well prepared for its six-year time frame.
