Two "The Witcher" spin-off games and a new trilogy to be released

CD Projekt Red is indeed a busy rabbit. The studio has released a Marvel-esque roadmap for its upcoming game releases, and it's huge. A full sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 (opens in new tab), a new trilogy of Witcher games (opens in new tab), but that's not all: CD Projekt has also announced two more Witcher-inspired games, but these are not part of the current Geralt storyline Not included.

Codenamed Canis Majoris and Sirius, the games will be developed by studios outside of CD Projekt Red's main team; Sirius will be developed by Molasses Flood, which was acquired by CD Projekt, and will be set in the Witcher world, It will be set in the Witcher universe, and a tweet announcing Sirius states that it will be "different from previous titles, offering multiplayer gameplay on top of a single player experience with a campaign that includes quests and story."

Canis Majoris appears to be similar to the RPGs that CD Projekt Red has set in the Witcher universe so far, with a Twitter description describing it as "an authentic Witcher game, separate from the new Witcher saga starting with 'Polaris'" It will be "developed by an outside studio led by an experienced developer who has worked on previous Witcher games."

And that's all we know about these projects at the moment. While the new trilogy of The Witcher games seems to be at least somehow connected to the events of The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt, Canis Majoris could be set in a completely different time period, or it could be an entirely different Witcher story. Geralt's story is just one example of what happened to the Witcher in the history of that world. By the time we meet him in The Witcher 3, there are few Witchers left.

Perhaps it is time to go back before the Witcher's decline and see the world as it was when the Witcher was becoming a normal part of continental society. Being one of the first Witcher is almost as interesting as being one of the last.
