Phantom of the Phantom," not increasing endgame challenges due to "undue anxiety".

The endgame development (or lack thereof) of "Phantom of the Phantom" has been an issue since its initial release two years ago. It was one of the main factors that ultimately drove me away from the game in 2021, and I had hoped things would improve. Unfortunately, HoYoverse does not appear to be planning to add a combat-based endgame mode anytime soon.

In a recent interview with Gamespot (opens in new tab), the developer responded to longstanding community criticism. Currently, the only permanent endgame is Spiral Abyss, a challenge with multiple floors that can be completed every two weeks. Temporary events like "Labyrinth Warriors" prove that HoYoverse can come up with new and interesting endgame challenges, but there seems to be no interest in adding a permanent one.

"Creating another permanent endgame content similar to that of 'Spiral Abyss' may cause undue anxiety to players," the developer stated. He also mentioned the upcoming release of a trading card game, saying that he wanted to showcase "different types of gameplay."

HoYoverse also said that characters should be considered as more than "one dimension of numerical strength" and that there are no plans to modify power creep, which primarily affects pre-Inazuma characters. He also said that there are currently no plans to add georeactions, traveler costumes, or more resin caps. These are all general requests from the community.

HoYoverse seems to be focused on catering to as wide a range of players as possible with casual dailies and weeklies. Nevertheless, "Phantom Revelations" has a ridiculously good combat system. Cooking up elemental reactions and playing with team comps is a lot of fun, and it's a shame that HoYoverse doesn't try to explore it permanently at higher difficulty levels.
