Another day, another ambiguous teaser from director Hideo Kojima.

Hideo Kojima... He "announced something" or "announced that he was going to announce something," but the announcement itself is an announcement that, oh God, stop the Internet, I want to get off. For a creator of a game about information overload and the flood of crap in today's digital life, he doesn't exactly practice what he preaches.

Kojima previously announced (don't ask) that his studio would be showing off its VR corridor at TGS, and recently launched a new website. And now he's tweeting the same face again:

accompanied by a maddeningly branded text in English and half-lost language: the answer to "WHO" at TGS is in the following "WHERE". What does it mean and when?

As clear as mud, the implication seems to be that Kojima will reveal (El Fanning's) true identity at one of the big year-end shows.

The silhouetted face may not be Fanning, of course: but it bears a striking resemblance to her (one fan compares images while puffing on a Kopium). Fanning's list of projects is as long as her arm, but one element worth noting is that she has worked with directors Kojima and Nicolas Winding Refn in the past and is the mocap actor for Hartman in Death Stranding.

Fanning or not, another unanswered question is whether this is the beginning of a publicity stunt for "Death Stranding 2" (in production) or a game Kojima Productions is working on in partnership with Microsoft. The former is in production, and Kojima's recent tweet about motion capture sessions suggests that it is in full swing.

Director Kojima is certainly busy. In addition to these two games and VR Hallway, he produced a Spotify podcast and helped create a wristwatch (which, oddly enough, comes with a wearable skull face mask) with NASA. Sometimes I wish he would announce something substantial instead of Hideo Kojima announcing another Hideo Kojima.
