In Vallorant, woman confesses to killing sister who flirted with boyfriend

An Orlando woman has admitted to killing her sister for flirting with her boyfriend in Barolant, the Orlando Sentinel reported (opens in new tab). 21-year-old Fatihah Marzan was arrested by Orange County sheriff's deputies on the evening of September 26. He reported the incident to police about 15 hours after it occurred and confessed to the crime.

Marzan reportedly shared a room and bed with his 20-year-old sister Seima, who was a Vallorant player. According to investigators, Marzan regularly witnessed her long-distance boyfriend and sister playing games together, and she perceived the chat messages between them as inappropriately flirtatious.

Marzan confronted the two on numerous occasions about their relationship, but apparently did not stop to consider their bond a threat. According to the arrest affidavit (opens in new tab), after learning, or at least believing, that the boyfriend had told her sister that he loved her, Marzan purchased a "dagger-shaped knife set" on Amazon, hid it for several weeks, and planned to attack her while other family members slept. She eventually murdered Sayama in the early hours of September 26.

This incident is another episode in a decades-long series of video game-related violence. There have been quite a few stories of this kind in the past few years alone, including people dying in "pranks" of swatting (open in new tab), death threats against developers (open in new tab), murders over trivial hardware arguments (open in new tab), etc.

Marzan called police the night of her sister's murder, about 15 hours later, to report her death and confess to the crime. Seima was pronounced dead approximately 20 minutes after Orange County firefighters arrived, and Marzan was arrested. She is currently being held without bail and is charged with first-degree murder.
