"Overwatch 2" has been online for a few days now, and when they have time to wait in line (open in new tab), players are enthusiastically playing the free-to-play shooter. Some aspects of "Overwatch 2" have not changed from "Overwatch," such as the core abilities of the main cast, so players are already destroying each other with the skills they honed in the first game. But who will come out on top?

According to the tier list that has emerged over the past day (open in new tab), almost everyone agrees that Lucio is not only the best support, but possibly the best hero in the game right now. Opinions on many of Overwatch 2's cast members vary widely, but Lucio is always at the top of the rankings (open in new tab).

Other heroes currently considered best include Soldier 76 (the new beard really suits him), Tracer, Genji, Ana, and the new healing hero Chirico. d.Va is sometimes considered really good, as are Winston, Junker Queen, and Orisa . The tank that is struggling is Roadhog. He is not making enough of an impact on the game right now to deserve to be picked as a single tank.

The rest of the tier list is unstable; Widowmaker, Symmetra, Junkrat, and Wrecking Ball tend to show up at the bottom of the tier list, but the middle is a mishmash of preferences, which I think Overwatch has been for quite a while ....... Good Mercy is great, but Mercy by itself is very average according to these lists. And a bad Lucio, as we saw in the first game of Overwatch 2, will never reach the destructive potential that these lists claim.

For now, Blizzard will inevitably make many changes to heroes in the future for balancing purposes, so I encourage you to play what you enjoy. Learn the new dynamics and maps and play lots of quick plays until you get used to them. Play what you are happy with for now and start thinking seriously about team composition when the game is more settled. Eventually the pro players will establish the Overwatch League meta and the real grind will begin.
